Week 1

We have been very busy this week and it is like we have never been away!

We are learning about Summer, so we compared summer to the things we remembered about the other seasons. We had lots of fun outside on a summer hunt looking for signs of summer. We even noticed that some new buds from our spring hunt had turned into new flowers and we have tiny apples growing in our back garden!

In phonics, Fred Frog has been teaching us to spell using 'Fred Fingers' to count the sounds in words. We thought very carefully about how to write each letter.

In maths, the children really enjoyed learning about 3D shapes. We compared and sorted them with 2D shapes and then played a guess the shape game by describing each shape. We have also learned some new vocabulary; face, corner, vertices, curved, straight and chunky to describe a cone, cube, sphere and cuboid. We found lots of these shapes in our junk modelling boxes!
